Day 59 Muizenberg

Woke at 4:30 to the mother of all storms, Lorarine and her predictions, I thought I had sealed all the leaks, I discovered differently, we were all 4 under the blanket and the duvet, curtains closed and hoping the rocking and howling would blast itself out in a hurry, by the time we crawled out into the wet world sometime after 8 we were all buggered, poor dogs have no idea what is happening in their little world, I hope the rain stops long enough for me to take them for a long walk, would prefer not to walk in the rain as they then have to get back into the camper wet and cold for our trip up to Melkbosrand, not comfortable especially as we have no idea whether we will be in a campsite tonight where we can wash and dry everything.

So we managed a walk before the rain set in and hit the road across town, stopped for yet more fuel and finally found ourselves through Milnerton and onto the Boubergstrand beach, I phoned all the campsites along this stretch and none will take the dogs so we are sitting comfortably in the camper, most of us are sleeping, and will camp on the beach for a few days, I just need to find a laundromat to get our clothes washed and dried and we now have more money to spend on some great meals, the dogs can get some meaty dinners.
sunny muizenberg
not so sunny Bloubergstrand

We chilled on the beach while the rain came down in buckets then had a walk when it let up a bit, blown all over the beach, we found the shopping centre at Big Bay and stocked up a bit and then went down to the little beach off Bloubergstrand, not sure what they cal it, mostly holiday homes as they are shuttered, but this area for miles is simply wall to wall units, American condominiums I guess you can call them.

We spent a lovely afternoon on this wild beach, typical Cape Town day as the weather just does not know what it wants to do, a storm came over that we sat out then I took some amazing pictures of the double rainbow that came up once the storm passed. I think we'll sleep here because it's quite pretty. The wreck of the ship that sank here two years ago is still visible and the ton load of coal that it dumped in the sea is being washed ashore with the currents here at this beach, one guy tells me he and his daughter come and collect 250kg every week, fills his fire needs for the winter he reckons, wonder where the entrepreneurs are, great business as it is A grade coal.

The sun came out but now it is back to the wind and the lightening so I guess another storm is on it's way, we will have to go and hide ourselves somewhere, we are way too exposed out here on the beach, we will get blasted from all directions and everything in this camper is already wet I can do without more rain coming in all the holes.
