Fathers Day

We woke to a glorious day, bright blue and clear and in no way can anyone call it winter.

We decided to take a drive out of town and see some of the wine farms and the country, typical fybos landscape in between the farms and we found a place where the fence was broken so we could go and climb   a mountain.

exploring the grapes

Lots of small wine farms here along with hydroponic farming. I just wander why all the winter vines have dead bunches of grapes on them, is it grapes not used for wine making or is it for another reason, I would have though grapes not used in wine would be sold as grapes.Their are concrete water ducts all over the area and this carries water to the farms that has been put through an enormous desalianation process, all the underground water around the Namaqua region is brackish.

We stopped along the way to Klawer to walk and relax and take in the fresh air. Luckily the wine farms I was interested in had no wine tasting which is a good thing otherwise I might not have made it back to Vredendal.

Nice Fathers day out and youth day, not much happening for either event by the look of things, this is a very dead town on weekends it seems.

The dogs enjoyed a day out in the sun and lots of new walks.

We got to see Klawer properly as we just drove through the first time round,we also took the back country  road so we drove in a circle from Vredendal and back, very pretty country and lovely to have a mountain range as a permanent backdrop.

Home to catch some of the cricket and to have a braai.

We have lovely braai areas in the campsite and the dogs are for ever smelling other peoples braais wherever we go, so today I thought I would collect up all the wood I could find and buy them some cheap meat and braai it for them, I don't have a grill but will make a plan.

Enjoy your Youth day/fathers day
