Spotty and Blackie, can you tell them apart?
the hidden guest cottage
I did try and leave Blacky and Spotty behind this morning so mine can feel a bit special, quality time is what I thought they would appreciate, but we only got about 300m before I heard the sound of flying paws and a black flash flying past me, Spotty did not want to be left behind so she jumped the fence to follow us, I think it was Spotty, I still battle to tell them apart.

A bit laid back this morning, the lady who comes twice a week to water the garden could not make it this morning as Kevin could not get the bakkie to start so he could go and fetch her, so I suggested we use the camper but I could not get her started, I think I flooded her. So Lizelle and I spent most of the morning watering the trees and plants with buckets, time consuming and labour intense job.
Then I went off to join Kevin and we did another 2 levels of bricks on the septic tank, well my part was minimal, up to where the inlet and outlet pipes need to be so we left the job to dry for the day. Took the afternoon off which was great, I could walk the dogs, again with one added extra who did not want to stay behind. I am reading the earth bag book and would love to build an earth bag house soon so I can see how it works, looks easy but will obviously have little secrets to it's successfull completion the same as everything else that looks easy, so a trial run on an ablution block for the campsite here on the farm will be a great experience.

I took all four dogs for a short jaunt down to the river which is mostly dry but has pockets of water with a rather deep patch as large as a public pool and perfect for a swim. My dogs were in for a short swim but not nearly as adventurous as a two year old border collie puppy who threw herself into the water after stones, Sean had told me about this game the dogs play in the water chasing stones, wow what a maniac dog, she launched herself after a stone she was never going to catch, never tired of the game and was reluctant to come home when I finally started back up the track. I remember when the puppies were doing the same thing at the delta with their tennis ball, launching themselves off the edge of the waterfall, now they are like two old ladies with better things to do with their lives.
very nice job getting done on the septic tank with everyone's help
attempting to deal with all four dogs wanting my attention
The family went off to Robertson for the evening as Sean is going into Cape Town to spend time with dad, so had the house to myself. I locked the chickens up for the night and wanted to enjoy the company of the four dogs but they were having none of that, once they started on each other I had to separate them again, two in the house and two out, then swop them around to cook dinner, wash some dishes and clean up, then seperate and swop them again so I could go and make coffee and then swop them again so I could put mine in their room and the other two in the house, felt sorry for them scratching on the door and wanting to know why they were all alone in the house, they did eventually settle and all is now well and mine are snoring away themselves.
So I can now go and catch up with some writing, I have started writing this book but not sure how long my enthusiasm will last, maybe some time out here will let me de-stress from 14 weeks on the road and my creative juices will kick in, feeling very laid back and relaxed and am happy to be here but can tell you that the heat is perfect for now, middle of winter, but very little chance of me being productive in the summer months because the middle of the day is hell to work in already.
So sleep well gals and guys and catch you later.
